And at long last, a girl!

My dear friend just gave birth to her first girl after three boys. She had always loved the idea of having a girl, that is, until she found out she was having one! Poor Katy realized she was such a boy mom... what on Earth was she to do with a girl?? But just as sure as I was she was going to be an amazing mom, again, I was sure she was going to embrace having a girl! After spending time with them taking photos, I can confidently say I was right, on both counts!
Katy reached out to me many months ago asking if I would take newborn pictures for them when little Miss Paisley was born. I had never done a newborn shoot before and I told her that I would do the best I could but it was a learning experience for me! She was totally on board.
When I say that I could not have had a better first time experience, I mean it. There was no rushing, no drama, no anxiety. We all had fun and laughed, we were patient with Paisley when she did not want to sleep, and I learned a lot as we went along. Along with newborn pictures, I snapped a few family photos. The older boys had so much fun learning about all of my equipment, using the backdrop as a fort, and one even showed off their own photography skills. Between shots I was happy to let them play and explore! When I asked them to pose for pictures, they were so much more into it because they were very comfortable.
If I have learned anything in my short time of photographing, it is that a comfortable subject is a good subject. This goes for all ages.
This sweet little peanut was just 12 days old. Is there anything more precious in this world than a fresh little baby?? I did not get a good whiff of her newborn smell because of my mask, but I got to enjoy her tiny little feature! I was so happy to be working with a Mom who knew me and trusted me to handle her newborn. It is not easy to figure out each pose, especially with a little one who loved to move as soon as I got her situated! But, we got there!
I am forever grateful to all my clients who trust me to take their pictures, and especially to one who trusts me to handle her brand new baby! I am looking forward to learning more and taking more newborn photos. It was truly an honor, Katy and family. Thank you!
